The Guga Hunters of Ness

behind the scenes footage from the North Atlantic...

Intrepid Cinema presents The Guga Hunters of Ness. A documentary film following the Guga Hunt, an ancient tradition on the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland

Every year, the 10 men of Ness sail far out into the North Atlantic to hunt for the prized meat of the Guga. They stay on the tiny rocky isle of Sula Sgeir for two weeks, weathering Atlantic storms in stone bothies, amongst ruins left by celtic monks a thousand years ago.
